All of these ice skating rinks are open to the public. If you have your own skates, all the outdoor rinks also offer free admission. There's a nominal fee if you want to rent skates.
The McFetridge indoor ice skating rink features skating year round, but they charge a modest admission price in addition to their skate rental charges.

This indoor rink offers adult, family, and general public skate hours in addition to hockey, skating lessons, and more. In the winter, it's a great place to moderate the cold when you skate, and in the summer, it's a great place to escape the heat.
4. Midway Plaisance Park Ice RinkEast 59th Street at Woodlawn Avenue
This lovely outdoor rink in nestled in the heart of the University of Chicago campus in the historic Midway Plaisance. You can also easily add on a trip to the Museum of Science and Industry, which is nearby for an even more robust outing.
