Chicago Blackhawks - Overview:
The National Hockey League organized in 1917 and on September 25, 1926, Major Frederic McLaughlin, a Chicago coffee mogul, was awarded the Chicago franchise. He allegedly named the team after his army division's nickname. The Chicago Blackhawks became known as one of the Original Six hockey franchises.Since then, the Chicago Blackhawks have established themselves as a premiere team and a beloved and historic part of the Chicago sports scene. They have won the Stanley Cup three times.
