In Chicago, pets are big business, from everything including doggie spas, doggie daycare, dog parks and more. 1. Tails in the City

Located in Chicago's Gold Coast neighborhood, Tails in the City offers a wide variety of products to pamper your pooch, including dog beds, collars and treats. The store also holds annual Halloween pet parade each year in October. Location: One East Delaware Place, 312-649-0347. 2. Pet Stuff

I found out about Pet Stuff after taking my dog Boo for an overnight at the pet-friendly Hotel Allegro (Hotel review coming soon.) Pet Stuff focuses on natural foods and supplies for dogs and cats, including toys, treats, leashes, harnesses and more. 3. For Dog's Sake

For Dog’s Sake's products use all natural ingredients, and whenever possible, are predominantly human-grade and organically produced. The store currently has two locations in Chicago, as well as in Sawyer, Michigan. In Chicago, the Kimball location is their warehouse and is where they foster dogs, partnering with the Tree House Animal Foundation, among others. Their Superior location in Chicago is described as "a charming and intimate store serving the River North and Gold Coast neighborhoods." Items include dog and cat foods, toys and treats. 4. Barker and Meowsky

Located in Chicago's Lincoln Park neighborhood, Barket and Meowsky is a whimiscal pet store offering doggie and cat apparel, animal beds, carriers, collars, toys, furniture and more. 5. Wigglyville

If you'd like to buy locally or regionally made product (not manufactured overseas), then Wigglyville is your pet store. The store strives to buy locally from local desingers and manufacturers. Most of their products are made in the United States, Canada and South America (known for its organic farms). Products sold at Wigglyville include collars, leashes, toys and treats. 6. Doggy Style Pet Shop

Located in the heart of Wicker Park, Doggie Style offers curbside service, delivery, and sells eco-friendly pet products. The stores also sponsors monthly pet adoption events. On the store's site, Doggie Style is billed as a leading pet store for super-premium nutrition choices, and a plethora of pet and eco-friendly products. Location: 2023 W. 7. Dog-a-holics

An on-site doggie bakery, sparkle collars and leashes, natural dog food, and darn good service, what more could you ask for in a pet store? Dog-a-holics operates two locations on Southport - a boutique and a grooming and doggie daycare facility. My dog Boo can attest to how good the doggie bakery is - she recently enjoyed a pink cookie with Princess written on it. And I can attest to how good the pet grooming is -- Boo got a blueberry facial and smelled so good! Location: 3657 N Southport Avenue, 773-857-7600

8. City Pets

City Pets on Grand Avenue is part boutique shop and part grooming. The shop offers natural pet foods (holistic, raw, and organic), toys, and products, and the grooming area, which is cage-free, offers 6′X8′ individual suites for pets that are yet to begin their grooming session or are waiting to be picked up. Grooming services include massage bath, blueberry facial, nail trim and file, ear cleaning, hand blow dry, teeth cleaning, and anal gland expressions. The store also offers dog walking - $12 for 25 minutes.
