Just a few months before Barack Obama won his bid for President in November 2008, Maria Pinto opened a store in Chicago's west Loop. One of Michelle Obama's favorite fashion designers, Pinto is among the Chicago boats rising with the Obama tide.
To be fair, Pinto's innovative and fresh fashion designs have long caught more than just Michelle Obama's attention. Pinto is a former associate designer for Geoffrey Beene, had an accessory line placed in Bergdorf Goodman in 1991, and she won the prestigious Gold Coast Fashion Award. Pinto is a graduate of the Art Institute of Chicago. Currently, she designs for women only.
