Millennium Park Overview:
One story behind Millennium Park's creation goes a little like this: One day Mayor Richard M. Daley looked down from his dentist's office at the ugly, exposed train tracks next to Grant Park and began imagining what might be.
Flash forward to 2004 when Millennium Park opened with great fanfare and celebration. Under the mayor's guidance, the city literally built the park over the train tracks and created one of the nation's, if not the world's, most lustrous public spaces.
Millennium Park now attracts millions of visitors a year and offers a seemingly endless calendar of events, concerts, exhibits, and celebrations.
