Viaduct Mary Photos - Vandalized with Blue Devil

Chicago Virgin Mary

Jennifer Roche
In 2005 an image was discovered in a Chicago viaduct that many people believe is the Virgin Mary. Others think it looks more like a water stain.

Despite the disbelievers, a shrine was built around her image -- or the stain -- and has continued ever since. It was vandalized with a painted blue devil face sometime before January 8, 2009, when this photo was taken.

The image can be found under the I-90/I-94 (Kennedy) expressway at the Fullerton exit. This is at approximately 2150 West Fullerton. (Map It) It's on the north wall in the Fullerton Accident Investigation area.

It is accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, so it's not surprising someone had easy access for vandalizing it.
