The Notebaert Nature Museum is the new home (and new name) of the Chicago Academy of Sciences, which was a 150-year old institution dedicated to many scientific pursuits, including what seemed to be a lot of taxidermy.
The new museum ushered in a renewed commitment to educating the public about nature and the environment. It's located at 2430 N. Cannon Drive. It houses a year-round live butterfly exhibit, a river educational area, and an overview of the historic artifacts of the Chicago Academy of Sciences.
