Emperor's Choice Restaurant
The Emperor's Choice Restaurant was built in 1928 and designed by architects Michaelsen and Rognstad. The two-story addition was built in 1932 and designed by the same architects.
This restaurant remains a reliable Chinatown choice and can satisfy the least adventurous to the most exotic eaters in your party. On our recent visit, the menu came with an additional handout on a yellow piece of paper titled "Emperor's Choice Village Special - May Need an Acquired Taste." It featured such delicacies as Fried Intestine, Ostrich with Leeks, and Sea Cucumber, Fish Lips, and Black Mushrooms. (Me? I ate egg roll and Shrimp with Peapods thank you very much.)
You can find this building with its beautiful terra cotta facade at 2238 S. Wentworth.
