B.L.U.E.S. on Halsted is among my favorite blues bars in Chicago because of its intimate, no-frills atmosphere and the reliably great music by (almost always) local artists.
The last time I went, the saxophonist had to play on the floor because there was only room for four on stage. He'd step aside while playing to allow people through to the restrooms behind him. As this suggests, there's not a bad seat in the house.*
B.L.U.E.S. was a 2009 recipient of the Keeping Blues Alive award from the Blues Foundation.

Let the record also show: the correct way to write B.L.U.E.S. on Halsted is with the periods after each letter for emphasis, not because it's an acronym. (I figure it's kind of like the feeling Muddy Waters puts on each letter in "Mannish Boy.")

B.L.U.E.S. on Halsted - Tips
- *There is not a bad seat in the house, except for standing, which still isn't bad for the first 15 minutes or however long your toes can take it.
- Therefore, arrive early on weekends to be sure you get a seat.
- Or, go on a weekday, when it's often easier to get one.
- See Tuesday and Sunday savings above.
