Hull-House Museum Overview:
The Hull-House Museum, a Chicago Landmark, is almost all that survives from Jane Addams' settlement community that she first established in 1889. She created Hull-House as a social support network for area immigrants and those in need. Within a decade, the settlement grew to a 13-building complex with a gym, theater, cafeterias, and more.Addams' example at the Hull-House sparked a movement of social workers, and her national and international influence expanded remarkably. In 1931, she won the Nobel Peace Prize.
The museum honors Addams' life and legacy and contains many original items from the Hull-House era.
