Chicago Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony Overview:

Every year, Chicago celebrates the arrival of the Christmas season with its Tree Lighting ceremony in Daley Plaza. This year will mark the 96th round of this holiday rite of passage. The mega-tree is usually created from many smaller trees and sits happily in the plaza near the city's famed Picasso statue. This celebration, in conjunction with the Magnificent Mile Lights Festival, are the city's two main kick-off events for the launch of the holiday season.
