Overview of the Gene Siskel Film Center:
The Film Center shows "world class independent, international, and classic cinema." It is affiliated with the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and was founded in 1972. It was later renamed to honor the well-known film critic Gene Siskel, who lived in Chicago and was a strong supporter of the center.
Today the Film Center, which moved to its present location in 2001, shines among Chicago movie houses for its film programming.

Gene Siskel Film Center Guide Comments:
This Film Center is a wonderful place to see a movie. Not only because the programming is thoughtful, original, and provocative, but also because the theaters are intimate and well-designed. One theater is close to 200 seats while the other seats about 60. The sound is excellent. There's also a nice cafe that serves wine and beer in addition to your popcorn. (Yes, you can bring it -- the popcorn and the wine and beer -- into the theater.) Plus, the chairs are super comfy. You'll be drawn in by the programming, but you'll come back for the programming and the nice digs.
