Movies Made in Chicago - 1896 to 2006

From , former About.com Guide

Chicago's history of filmmaking is almost as old as movies themselves. The first motion picture camera was manufactured around 1895, and by 1897 William Selig, a former magician, was producing and showing films in Chicago.

Below you'll find the most complete lists of known movies filmed or made all or in part in Chicago and the state of Illinois between 1896 and 2006.

(The list stops in 2006 because that's the date through which the City of Chicago's Film Office has updated its records. When they update beyond 2006, this list will also be updated.)
