Is it time to turn your holiday tradition into wood chips? The city of Chicago offers locations throughout the city every year to recycle your tree rather than sticking it on the curb or in the alley for garbage pick-up.
The city would like you to know that they are only accepting trees at these locations and not additional recyclables. Also, there will be some wood mulch available at the sites on a limited basis. If you have additional questions, you can call the Department of Environment at (312) 744-7606.
Dates: TBD. The Department of the Environment did not publish times with their announcement. I checked with them, and they said these are open around the clock. "You basically throw your tree on a big pile," they advised.
