How to Contact Your Local Voting Authority

The next General Election is on Tuesday, November 4, 2008. Illinois polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. CST.

Here is what you can do if you run into problems while voting in Illinois.
  • City of Chicago residents can contact the Chicago Board of Elections Commission by calling their Election Day hotline at (312) 269-7870. This number will be open from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Election Day only. You can also visit them online here.

  • Suburban Cook County residents can contact the Cook County Clerk's office at (312) 603-0906 or visit them online here.

  • Illinois residents who do not live in Chicago or suburban Cook County can quickly identify their election authority and the corresponding phone number by going to the Illinois State Board of Elections website and using their election authority identifying site here.

  • All Illinois voters can call the Illinois State Board of Elections with concerns at (217) 782-4141.

  • Finally, any voter in the country who experiences problems while voting can also contact the nonpartisan Election Protection Coalition either online here or by phone at 1-866-OUR-VOTE (687-8683).
