President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle give some positive reinforcement to their new pet.
In his Election Night acceptance speech in Chicago's Grant Park, Barack Obama promised his daughters, Malia and Sasha, a new puppy when they moved to the White House.
On Easter Sunday 2009, he made good on that promise. He was a gift from Senator Ted Kennedy and his wife, Vicki. Bo is a Portuguese Water Dog. He was about six months old on the date of his becoming a gift.
This photo is from Bo's first official photo shoot.
