Tom Mullaney - Bio

Tom Mullaney was born and grew up in Manhattan. He began his journalism career at Business Week in New York and moved to National Journal in D.C. He came to Chicago in 1977 to head the University of Chicago News Office. He has written on economics, education and religion.

From 1982-85, he worked in New York with Margaret Carson, a leading music & arts publicist. Among her select clients were Leonard Bernstein, Sir Neville Marriner, Michael Tilson Thomas, Alfred Brendel, The MacDowell Colony, American Academy of Arts & Letters and The Metropolitan Opera. He returned to Chicago in 1985 to pursue a public relations career with his own firm counseling business and arts organizations.

Since 2003, he has worked as an Arts Reporter with appearances in The New York Times, Chicago Magazine, Chicago Tribune, TimeOut Chicago, The Art Newspaper and Chicago Artist News.
