Winter Classic Overview :
The Winter Classic was held in Wrigley Field on New Year's Day 2009. The Red Wings beat the Blackhawks 6-4 in front of a crowd of 40,818. I'm leaving this file up as part of the event's history.The third regular season outdoor game in National Hockey League history will be played in Chicago's Wrigley Field. The Chicago Blackhawks host the Detroit Red Wings on New Year's Day.

December 16, 2008 through January 7, 2009: Waveland Avenue north and south curb and sidewalk from 1035 Waveland to 1011 Waveland. Traffic is maintained. Sheffield closed from Addison to Waveland.Parking and Parking Restrictions:
No parking will be allowed on Clark Street from Newport to Irving Park Road beginning December 31, 2008 at 6:00 p.m. through January 1, 2009 at 8:00 p.m.Residential parking restrictions will not be in effect; however, motorists should read signage before parking in the area.
The remote DeVry Lot will not be available for this event.
CTA Service Updates:
According to the CTA, extra service will be added during the Winter Classic on the following bus routes and rail lines:#22 Clark - Buses will operate every 8 to 12 minutes.
#152 Addison - Buses will operate every 12 to 15 minutes.
#X80 Irving Park Express - Buses will operate every 12 minutes.
Red Line - Service will operate more frequently, every 6 minutes from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., in both directions.
