The Chicago Sister Cities International Program is organized by the City of Chicago's Department of Cultural Affairs. The program seeks to benefit Chicago citizens and its partner cities by providing enhanced opportunities for global, cultural, and economic exchange.

That's all true, but, really, in my opinion, it's just fun to get together with other parts of the world and see what they're up to and what's new with them.
