Easter Sunday arrives on April 12, 2009, but the celebrations begin before that, including two popular ones on April 4. Find what you need to know to enjoy the holiday. Check back often as new events will be added.

  1. Spring Flower Shows - Through May 10
    The Lincoln Park Conservatory and the Garfield Park Conservatory spring into full bloom with their annual flower shows, an Easter holiday favorite.

  2. Egg Hunt at Soldier Field - Saturday, April 4
    Take your kid for brunch and candy hunting on the Chicago Bears' grid iron.

  3. Sixth Annual Doggie Easter Egg Hunt - Saturday, April 4
    Let Fido smile it up and sniff it out with the Easter Bunny at this dog-friendly Easter event.

  4. Southport Hop Around the Shops - Sunday, April 5
    Hunt for eggs, get discounts and coupons, and meet adoptable dogs on Southport between Roscoe Avenue and Grace Street. Adoptable dogs are online at Chicago Canine Rescue. Lots of family crafts and activities, too. Noon to 3 p.m.

  5. Via Crucis - Friday, April 10
    For more than 30 years, Catholics in the Little Village/Pilsen neighborhood have reenacted the Stations of the Cross, including the crucifixion of Christ.

  6. Fifth Way of the Cross Procession Through Downtown Chicago - Friday, April 10
    An annual procession on Good Friday making five stops through the city and ending at Holy Name Cathedral.
