With Valentine's Day and other holidays, February is a full of days off from work and school, and fun things to do to celebrate your favorite sweetie or U.S. president. February is also Black History Month.

Throughout the Month of February: Black History Month - February is Black History Month in the United States.

February 1, 2012: 2012 Lunar New Year Celebration - 2012 is the Year of the Dragon - 4710 and also marks the 100th Anniversary of Chicago's Chinatown. In observance of this milestone, this event will feature a special Community Awards presentation to individuals and businesses whom have demonstrated exceptional leadership and contribution to the community. Event starts at 6 p.m. at the Cai Restaurant (2100 S Wentworth Avenue).Celebrate the Lunar New Year with the Chinese New Year Parade in Chicago's Chinatown. The parade starts on Wentworth and goes from 24th Street to Cermak and will take place on January 29, 2012.

February 5 - 29, 2012: Free Admission to the Chicago History Museum - Looking for something fun to do this February? Why not learn about Chicago's history with free admission, February 5 - 29, 2012, to the Chicago History Museum. Especially with a three-day weekend in February for President's Day, a trip to the museum could be a fun outing for your kids.

February 10 - 19, 2012: Chicago Auto Show at McCormick Place - Considered the largest auto show in the U.S., the Chicago Auto Show takes over McCormick Place with cars from all over the world.

February 14, 2012: Valentine's Day - The year's biggest holiday for lovers takes place on a Tuesday.

February 17-26, 2012: Chicago Restaurant Week - One of the best weeks in Chicago, in my opinion, Chicago Restaurant Week is a way to taste some of Chicago's best food and do so on a budget. Over 125 restaurants serve 3-course prix-fixe meals at reasonable prices.

February 20, 2012: President's Day - A federal holiday, all city government offices are closed. Most businesses, attractions, and museums will be open but it is smart to check ahead for any schedule or time changes. Beware: Because kids have the day off from school, places can be crowded. (Plan a trip with the family to the Art Institute of Chicago with our Visitors Guide, or spend the day at the Shedd Aquarium.)

Through March 2012, weather permitting: Millennium Park Ice Skating - Ice skating at Chicago's Millennium Park is one of Chicago's most popular winter activities with the rink's skyscraper views, festive music, and charm - the Millennium Park Ice Rink is outside along Michigan Avenue. The 2011 Millennium Park Ice Skating season will run through March, weather permitting.
