March in Chicago means one thing: Irish. The city's St. Patrick's Day events are the most popular things to do, even if you aren't from the Emerald Isle. Here's a list of Chicago's March events. Check back often as the page will be continually updated, including the addition of a St. Patrick's Day page listing Chicago's Irish events this month.
Chicago Flower & Garden Show - March 5 - 13, 2011 - Navy Pier hosts the annual Chicago Flower & Garden Show where gardens and flower lovers can learn about gardening techniques for their backyards, patios, and balconies, as well as ideas for landscape designs and green products for your gardens.
11th Annual Chicago Polar Plunge and Melt Down Party - March 6, 2011 - The Chicago Polar Plunge is the largest fundraiser benefiting Special Children's Charities and the Special Olympics Chicago programs. Each year thousands of plungers take to North Avenue beach for this great cause. Whether you go waist high or take the full plunge, doesn't matter. Any and all are welcome to participate.
St. Patrick's Day Parade - March 12, 2011 - A tradition for decades now, the St. Patrick's Day Parade is the largest in Chicago and attracts thousands of bystanders who line up along Columbus Drive. The festivities kickoff at 10:45 a.m. when the Chicago River is dyed green, and the parade officially begins at 12 p.m.
South Side Irish Parade - In 2010, the South Side Irish Parade Committee announced the parade would be canceled. This year I believe the parade is still canceled and instead a South Side Irish Parade Family Fest will be held. I am waiting for confirmation of the fest and will update this page when I know more.
