Jennifer Roche is a writer, blogger, and mommer. She has lived in the "Land of Lincoln" since she was in the fifth grade.

Experience:

Jennifer is a freelance writer and editor. Her work has appeared in Conscious Choice, Community Arts Network, Chicago Parent, and elsewhere. Prior to that, she served as an editor for The McGraw-Hill Companies, Mosby health science publishers, and The University of Chicago Press.

She earned a B.S. at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a Masters of Liberal Arts at the University of Chicago.

From 2004-2007, she wrote a neighborhood blog called "The Place Where We Live." In 2005, Gapers Block named her as one of the "Top 10 Chicago Bloggers We Wish We Knew (But Don't)." She also spent a happy year contributing to Metroblogging Chicago.

Jennifer lives on the near north side of the city with her husband, two children, and a dog named Boomer.

From Jennifer Roche:

I'm your guide to this inexhaustible and lustrous city, and I couldn't be happier about it. Welcome.

I write most of the content on this site, I choose the links, and I set the tone and pace of Chicago coverage. When I'm doing that I strive for three things.
  1. To make it easier for you to find the Chicago information you want and need.
  2. To help you discover something new or interesting or comical about the city.
  3. To help you feel more connected to the community we share.
The site is a work in progress. I am constantly updating it, adding new content, and checking links, so please let me know how I'm doing on the above three points. What's helpful? What's missing? What's your news? What questions can't you find answered elsewhere? What Chicago resources are you looking for?

My contact e-mail address is above. I look forward to hearing from you.
