
On December 11 and 12, the Clarke and Glessner House Museums will host special holiday tours highlighting Christmas customs and decorations of the 19th century.
The Clarke House will feature decorations of the 1830s and 1840s. (Note: The photo above is the Clarke House, which was built in 1836 and is Chicago's oldest house.)
The Glessner House will feature decorations of the late 19th century, including a live Christmas tree shipped from the Glessner's former summer estate in New Hampshire, covered with vintage glass and paper ornaments.
Tours will be Saturday, December 11, and Sunday, December 12, at 5:30 , 6 and 6:30 pm.
Cost is $18 for adults; $14 for children 8-12. You can make reservations, which are encouraged, by calling 312-326-1480.
