If your Thanksgiving Day plans include time outside for a walk, The Morton Arboretum has good news: On Thanksgiving Day, they are offering free admission for everyone. Admission is normally $10 for seniors; $11 for adults; and $8 for children 2-17. null

The arboretum has 16 miles of trails and nine miles of paved roads. On-site nature gems include Meadow Lake, evergreens, the Schulenburg Prairie and more.

Hours on Thanksgiving, which is November 25, 2010, are 7 a.m. to sunset

Tip: Over the Thanksgiving weekend, The Morton Arboretum will have a "Winding Down for Winter!" program for children that will include programs on finding out where insects and animals hide during the winter and making "tree treats" for animals that stick around during the colder months. The program is for all ages and will be held in the Children's Garden. Hours are November 27 - 28; 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.
