It's still hard to fathom that Chicago canceled one of its most popular summer events this year, the Outdoor Film Festival, but thankfully Chicago's outdoor street festivals are still on the docket.
The city also canceled Venetian Night, which many Chicagoans, including myself, consider to have better fireworks than Chicago's Fourth of July fireworks.
The good news is that not all is lost this summer.
Almost every weekend there is some sort of Chicago outdoor street festival, from music to food to art.
Some upcoming outdoor street festivals this June worth keeping on your radar include:
Taste of Randolph
When: June 18 - 20
Where: 900 W. Randolph St.
What: Bring your appetite for this festival that serves food from some of Chicago's best restaurants.
Admission: Donation at the door.
Tip: Another popular "food-focused" festival is the Taste of Lincoln Avenue July 24 - 25.
Chicago Pride Fest
When: June 25 - 26
Where: Halsted between Addison and Grace
What: Gay and lesbian celebration of community pride with one of Chicago's most vibrant parades.
Tip: Another popular gay and lesbian festival is Halsted Market Days August 7 - 8.
