In just a couple of weeks, the Art Institute of Chicago will unveil with great fanfare its new $300 million Modern Wing designed by architect Renzo Piano. Here are the key times when you can get your chance to step inside this historic and exciting addition to Chicago's cultural landscape.
Grand Opening, Saturday, May 16
- Ceremony - 9 a.m.
- Ribbon Cutting - 10 a.m.
- Modern Wing Open and FREE Admission - 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Special programming will take place on Monroe Street and throughout the museum.
- The Art Institute will continue to offer FREE admission through Friday, May 22.
