I like thinking about May right before a forecasted 80-degree April weekend. It's like summer is sitting right there in front of us, and all we have to do is put on our flip-flops and walk outside.

(That kind of makes me feel like typing "yay" with a fifth-grade girl quantity of exclamation points right behind it, but I resist.)

Find the Chicago schedule of May events that will soon unfold in the city including Mother's Day, Bike the Drive, International Mr. Leather, and the Memorial Day Parade.

Check out a newbie annual event on the landscape this month, the Chicago Climate Cycle, which is slated to raise funds for solar energy installation and sustainability education in local public schools.

Finally, mark your calendars for Saturday, May 16 and Friday, May 22, when the highly-anticipated Modern Wing at the Art Institute of Chicago and the renovated Oceanarium at the Shedd Aquarium will open to the public, respectively. I'll have more information about both of those events in the coming weeks.
