Illinois Lottery Jackpot Rises to $170 Million

Sunday December 7, 2008
Whenever the Illinois Lottery gets a huge jackpot, I always think of that scene in the movie Willy Wonka (the original) where Charlie pulls back his chocolate bar wrapper to see if the golden ticket is tucked inside.

What must it be like to realize your ticket is the winning one and you're going to receive millions of dollars? Think of the good you could do.

The next Mega Millions Illinois Lottery drawing will be on Tuesday, December 9 at 10 p.m. The jackpot stands at about $170 million but it could grow from there. If no one wins on Tuesday, it will continue to balloon.

Tickets are $1 and can bought at a convenience store, grocery store, or gas station near you.

CLARIFICATION: The Mega Millions Lottery is not solely an Illinois Lottery game. Rather, it is a multi-state lottery. Twelve states are involved and Illinois is one of them.
