I agree bootylicious belongs in the strip club and I observed an interview of if asked to sing what would be her choice and she said “at last” by etta james what planet is she from?

(4) Melvin T. says:

Y all r such haters and wat do u mean not anyone in genre?? Please make yourself clear…cause it sounds like u r trying to say no one in the R&B genre meaning black people??? Beyonce is as good a choice to sing there as anyone else her appearence and reputation far outweighs these other artist today and vocally she is unmatched by anyone in mainstream music….so y not Beyonce????

December 12, 2008 at 7:57 am
(5) NORMA JEAN says:

Barack Obama has more class than that……he will choose his entertainment wisely!…..this is not an audition for a “music video” !!!!!

December 15, 2008 at 10:11 am
(6) kiara says:

i think barack obamam will make a wise choice!!

December 16, 2008 at 10:49 pm
(7) bob says:

Everyone has their opinions which we have to respect. This is a time when black Americans need to show America that we are more than what is looked upon ourselves. Beyonce has a powerful voice that can definitely be used. I think most people, especially the older generations, feels that she shouldn’t perform if she is A) going to perform her songs, B) dresses the way that she does sometimes in her interviews, videos, and on stage. If she doesn’t do any of the things listed, then their shouldn’t be any reason for her not to be able to perform.

thanks norma jean

(9) Charlie says:

C’mon guys! Let’s not bring racial issues forth. If he wants to get Sir Mix A Lot or Burl Ives then so be it. One thing among many that I respect highly about this man is that he is not gonna set up racial barriers. I am white as rice, and personally think that he will do as good if not better than any president that we have ever had. Maybe this country will finally embrace and come to accept diversity and FINALLY mesh with one another without racial slurs and rude comments. We ARE one nation under GOD. Be it black, white, orange, green, pink, or yellow, you are all my fellow man.

January 1, 2009 at 10:54 pm
(10) Roe says:

I trust that Obama will choose wisely to select the correct entertainment. I am white and I am suppotive of him. If he chooses Beyonce I am sure it will not be an MTV night of ild dancing but straight forward good entertainment. If Beyonce sings At Last, it will be a fitting number. It is a class love song and can be easliy connected to the idea that finally, at last a black man has now sought and won the highest seat in the country!! I am not black but a Christian arabic american ( 3rd generation American) and not one of our people have ever gotten so far. Has any president ever been Italian, no, I don’t think so…Kennedy was the first Catholic president and that was a milestone in America! We are all people of the human race…all different but ever so much alike!!

January 5, 2009 at 4:20 pm
(11) Kadia Brooks says:

sirena mchilson, u need to shutup. Beyonce is a great choice. Anyone with some sense would kn ow that, who would want some country singer opening up the inauguration 2009 for Barack Obama.

January 6, 2009 at 11:30 pm
(12) wojo says:

Beyonce? No way. It’s bad enough I have to hear some bigoted homophobic preacher dude, and then to add someone like Beyonce who also doesn’t deserve to be associated with politics and presidential class, on this day we as U.S. citizens should be able to pretend we have some maturity and class and intellectual depth.

January 7, 2009 at 12:03 pm
(13) marie says:

The questions about Beyonce are terriable she has always been a respecful person when she performs. The fact is because of a skin shade or a job title should not make you more than sojmeone else. We are all children in the site of God rember that. As an African American I do know how to ask when I go places and have taught all seven fo my kids the same.My son is in Gramblin State Band and plays in the drum section he will know how to act because he has be taught by me to respect people. I will not be able to go the the event because I am how having to work two jobs to make ends meet at home. If beyonce or whoever will perform I would just be proud and excited to be able to attend the historical events and not have negative but positive judgements.

January 7, 2009 at 5:10 pm
(14) Nicole says:

wow. heres the solution. stop. just give up. gawd no racis comments and nothing about “suporting” u guys just need to shut up and deal with it. yes we have a black presedent! big deal! who cares. he is going to be a great president! GOD! and even if it is beyonce who cares?! its his choice and u guys have no opinion on it that might actually mean something to him! if he made president of the united states then im sure he can pick entertainment! WOW u people need lives. your all children.

January 9, 2009 at 1:27 am
(15) Keith Wilson says:

Beyonce is a excellent choice to sing at the inauguration. She has way more class than you broke down bloggers that are talking sideways at her. She knows when “sasha” is acceptable and when she isn’t. She performed the national anthem at the super bowl (classy and beautiful). I think you naysayers should spend a little more time making sure your job is secure, and ensuring you don’t go into forclosure than worrying about who the President of the United States will pick to perform! Im sure he values all of our opinions on this pressing issue (sarcasm) :0

January 12, 2009 at 12:18 am
(16) Jon says:

oh my god! i can’t believe some people still play the race card and it’s 2009!get with the program folks!

(18) Paris E. Tompkins says:

People are being so silly. We have gone through this process 43 times already, and this will be like the others. I don’t know what they expect…voodoo drums and dead chickens, strippers and foul-mouthed knuckleheads. This is a presidental inaugration and will be conducted with the same pomp and circumstance as all other. Many folks of America are acting very weird. If we would cut out all the racial distinctions and declare all Americans…Americans…there would be less of the stupidity which is being displayed.

January 13, 2009 at 4:39 am
(19) Keisha says:

Wow. Obama is inheriting a country left in a MESS after 8 years of incompetency and people are worried about WHO SINGS ON INAUGURATION DAY? If Obama spends more than two seconds thinking about singers, I would be upset – he has bigger things to deal with! My goodness! Stop worrying about who represents our race better – represent yourself and get educated on the issues our country is facing. If you know more about Beyonce than you do Halliburton, Iraq, or Social Security, perhaps you make yourself look worse than Beyonce ever could!

January 13, 2009 at 4:28 pm
(20) Maggie says:

I have no idea what Jonathan (17) said. Would someone please interpret and use commas and periods where needed. Sorry, but I’m older than 45.

January 13, 2009 at 4:43 pm
(21) Paris Tompkins says:

Maggie,
I’ll be 66 on the 30th of this month, but I have young people around, so let me intrepret for Jonathan: Obama is the best man for the job, so let’s not speak negatively about him. He honestly beat McCain in the campaign, therefore, we should accept his victory with respect.
At the least, we should appreciate Jonathan for participating.

January 13, 2009 at 11:07 pm
(22) Michelle says:

people! who cares what entertainment he’s having. we are about to inaugurate the best president ever! i’m so excited!

January 14, 2009 at 12:19 pm
(23) PatMcc says:

Let’s here it for #19. Get with the program folks. I am 73 and am THRILLED about our new pres (and am white as rice, so who cares), but the point is, let’s stop the hogwash of triviality that is going on here and think about what our new pres is saying, how can we help each OTHER?????

January 14, 2009 at 3:11 pm
(24) MABELL FROM ALABAMA says:

GET A GRIP….BEYONCE GOT IT GOING ON AND SHE IS A VERY HIGHLY INTELLIGENT BLACK WOMAN WHO HAPPENS TO HAVE RESPECT FOR YOU, ME AND HERSELF. DON’T UNDERESTIMATE THIS BEAUTIFUL WOMAN. SHE WILL PERFORM WITH THE UTMOST HIGH CLASS AND DO HER BEST FOR THE BEST…. WHICH IS PRES. OBAMA. SO CHILL OUT ALL OF YOU HATERS.

January 14, 2009 at 9:00 pm
(25) Passion 26 says:

If Beyonce brings the same class that she braught in her performance at the oscars than she would be a wonderful choice. But what makes you think that she would get up there and misreepresent our president anyway. Let’s just be real.

(26) Santeria71 says:

Melvin T. needs to stop texting.

January 15, 2009 at 11:27 am
(27) Oliver says:

I think president Barack Obama will make a good choice, but am sure it will only be for the majority of Americans. Suggestion would stand for any musician who would resemble “YES, I CAN”, like Steve Wonder.

January 15, 2009 at 5:18 pm
(28) Ronnel says:

It’s a shame that the topic of entertainment has superceeded the most important day in the WORLD. I’m a 39 year old black woman who never thought I would see this day. Most people (black, white or any other color) never thought this would never happen. Get real. Apparently some of us are not ready for CHANGE, which is great if you allow it to manifest. Step back and breathe a little. OBAMA was selected by the people. As a side note: the same people who are talking about BEYONCE have not given an alternative. Provide a solution and forget the complaint. OBAMA is the one, work on accepting it.

January 15, 2009 at 8:48 pm
(29) makiah says:

come on i mean hes going to be the first black president of the united states.go,gp ,gp

January 16, 2009 at 8:29 am
(30) Ty-Nice says:

The choice of entertainment is mainly from Pres. Obama, if he so chooses to pick Beyonce then I personally think it’s a good choice, she has good vocals, just because she’s a R&B star, it doesn’t mean she’s ignorant and doesn’t know how to represent, she doesn’t know how to be classy, I think she’ll be a great choice, thank you- haterz! Get ovr it!

January 16, 2009 at 10:53 am
(31) Sammy says:

Well first off, hes not full-fledged Black. He is only half black from what I understand.

Second, I think that it would be a little demorlizing to the nation to have someone on stage using vulgar language, exposing themself indecently, making sexual innuendos, uncouth statements, acts, or performances

Which I think is the major concern of people.

Second, I’m tired of hearing people say “Why are you being racist?” Or “Why are you saying that? …just because they are Black?”

As far as I’m concerned that “Cop-Out” flew out the window years ago.

It has been my experience as with anything, not just racism. That when someone accuses someone of being something, 90% of the time they are guilty of it themselves. The Bible points this out in several different occasions as well. Such as suggeting that one should pluck the beam out of one’s own eye before attempting to extract the splinter out of someone else’s eye.

Thats my 2 cents.

As for Obama, I really do hope that he turns out to be one of the best presidents that we have every had, if not the best. However, I feel that one single man can not live up to all the expectations that are expected of this man.

Men, have a history of being fallible. Weather they be Black, White, Tan, Light Skinned, Dark Skinned, or whatever.

One should remember that “No one is perfect”.

(32) Let me be me says:

First let me say I am sick of hearing about the Inauguration. That is because I live withing 45-minutes of DC and that is all our news programs are talking about lately.

Second let me say, I am a white female that voted for President-Elect Obama and I am proud of our incoming President. He is inheriting a mess but I think he is up for the challenge.

Who cares what musician is performing at the Inauguration? I sure as heck don’t.

January 17, 2009 at 11:05 am
(33) the one says:

At last…my love has come along! Beyonnce will not be vulgar and Barack will be a fantastic president. Its true that he has a mess to clean up thanks to 8 years of lunacy and mismanagementam Barack is for the people. He probably selected Beyonnce with a portion of his audience in mind. While she sings whichever tune, Barack will undoubtedly be thinking about the bigger things facing him. He is visionary, intelligent, a forecaster, and planner. He is 10 pages ahead of us trying to make plans to get this country back in order.

January 17, 2009 at 7:43 pm
(34) Stacey says:

BARACK OBAMA ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!
he is going to be a AWESOME PRESIDENT.he will make fix America and make it the best country ever/And i think Beyonce is a good choice 4 the inaguration dance.I am pretty sure Beyonce will act with class and plus she is a great singer ,,,,,I think all genres of music should be at the dance including R&B,dnt be hating

January 18, 2009 at 11:43 am
(35) Hazel says:

I believe the artists that Obama has chosen to perform, accepted this honor with the utmost respect for the occasion. Be it historical or not, these atrist know when to tone things down. We ARE speaking about very successful people who obviously have to have common sense along with their talents to keep them as A listers, which all of these performers are. Most have traveled the world and have performed for kings and queens. Trust me, they want to be just as successful as the president elect that evening. I also believe the do’s and don’ts have been discussed as well.I trust the entertainment will be quite memorable!

(36) Natalie says:

People!!!!Lets stop trying to sooo politically correct and let change take place!

January 18, 2009 at 10:37 pm
(37) Linda says:

I’m sick of the comment “He is inheriting a MESS”. I thought that he “begged’ for this mess for 2 years?? Now let us see if he can do what he promised in his campaign. You all need to realize too, that the mess started with the Clinton administration. He wanted everyone to own a home and all of the banks made bad loans. George Bush inherited Clinton’s MESS. Also I would like to take this opportunity to thank George Bush for keeping me safe. I hope that Obama can do the same. But I keep wondering when our country is being challenged, whose side will he really be on??

January 19, 2009 at 4:33 am
(38) Jessica says:

As a young person from Australia, let me be one of the first to say congratulations to the people of America for finally voting in someone who is worthy of being called a President!
I don’t get to watch the inauguration but I hope that it’s as good as it has been hyped up to be!
GO OBAMA!

(39) okenwa kalu (nigeria) says:

let’s keep prejudices aside.Beyonce is good and no doubt about that.i am sure if allowed to perfom understands the kind of ocassion and will dress accordingly.

(40) Avantika says:

As a member of the youth of South Africa, growing up as an Indian, it warms my heart to know that change is possible any and everywhere. It is the break of Dawn, and any light is always good. The world needs to open their minds to the possibilty of change, give credit where it is due and not harper on who will be performing what at the Inaugural Ceremony. Personally I will not be judging the performances of anyone except Mr.Obama. The way in which Mr. Obama’s speeches are delivered are so enthralling, I can only imagine the atmosphere that’s going to take place at the actual ceremony. Mr. Obama is hope not only for the U.S.A, but for the entire world. Let us look at the bigger picture, and forget about who will be wearing what. This isn’t the Golden Globes the last time I checked.

January 19, 2009 at 2:19 pm
(41) Marie says:

SIRENA MCHILSON –

What’s wrong with Beyonce? She has always been a positive role model for young girls. She’s never had her crotch hanging out while getting into a taxi while she’s wasted. She’s never even sworn in public. She’s a good entertainer and deserves to be there.

January 19, 2009 at 3:16 pm
(42) C.Darnell says:

I for 1 would love to see Beyonce perform. It isn’t like it would even be a discussion if Brittany sang for George W or McCain. She is an ENTERTAINER. They know what audience they are ENTERTAINING! She is also quickly becoming an accomplished actress and probably has more of a proper understanding of how to present herself as a lady in such crowds then most of the posters on here. As far as the bigoted homophobic preacher that was mentioned I would also like to add that we as CHRISTIANS are in belief of God’s word. These words were formed long before ANYONE came out of a closet. Before it was socially acceptable to sin the BIBLE specified the foulness in homosexuality. It’s easy to attack 1 person that speaks on a subject but he didn’t initiate the thought. God did. Let the church say AMEN!

January 19, 2009 at 7:42 pm
(43) melinda says:

i think that BARACK OBAMA is a good choice becoz we need a black presidente,he will be a good one too becoz we need change and yes we can. so BARACK OBAMA YOU ROCK!

(44) G bush says:

#42- she already performed. n00b

name what part of the bible it says that, then tell me who actually wrote it down.

January 19, 2009 at 10:01 pm
(45) TYSON says:

whoever he picks is whoever he picks. What worries me is some on here already calling him “the best President ever” or the sort. he has YET to make a major decision and you have given him cult status.

I hope the best for his presidency, but the predidency is bigger than any one individual. It is until we stop treating him as a celebrity and allow him to do his duty that we will find the measure of this man.

His taking office is monumental, however he has yet to show us he is the “best President ever” lets judge that in 4 years.

Until, then, bring on Beyonce and the rest!

January 20, 2009 at 6:07 am
(46) anne says:

I am an indigeious person from Australia and seeing Barack getting in has made me proud as we (Aboriginal) have a long way to go. We will never see it in our life to have a black person represent us. Good on you America!!!!!

January 20, 2009 at 7:00 am
(47) Dervla says:

world recession , economic slump , thousands if not hundreds of thousands of people jobless, war in Iraq , civil war in Israel and you all are actually worried that the amazingly talented AMERICAN born Beyonce might ruffle a few feathers at the inauguration? think about it.

(50) Mia says:

how is beyonce not a good pick to perform? isn’t Obama trying to connect and reach out to the young persons in the USofA?!? if so then Beyonce is perfect.. she is a young African American woman who has made herself extremely successful becuase she worked hard. she is great for the youth today to look up to. and maybe you’re not aware but a majoirty of people that voted for him were under 30.. many of which probably listne to R&B including Beyonce. she would be a geat choice!!!

January 20, 2009 at 9:11 am
(51) sherine says:

I think America has come far as to discrimination but still has long way to go. For example the comment of Linda about wondering which side Obama will choose when America will be challenged. Did you ever wonder which side Bush would choose?? As, neither he is a real native american. So please stop making yourself look ridiculous, placing comments that make no sense. Use your time in a positive and constructive way and maybe one day America will be a united nation.

January 20, 2009 at 1:16 pm
(56) Robert says:

you see as you guys are arguing about beyonce and why she isnt good to perform obama has given an AMAZING speech. He will be a good president. Color does not affect your overal conciousness. you people using l33t sp34k on an official forum should seriously quit using myspace logic when typing. and to you who say people seriously thinking about a SERIOUS event are gay…you are in fact a homophobic because you fear or hate a different lifestyle then yours. Obama will lead us from the darkness of bush to bush and really improve this country and other countries with his policies LIKE THEY ALL SHOULD DO! I am a high school student and i have officially and politically outstaged you all who are thinking that a eloquent respectable human bieng like obama would truely be concerned wether or not to invite a rapper,R&B artist,or gospel singer to his inauguration.

January 20, 2009 at 1:20 pm
(57) B says:

wHAT IS UP WITH THE END PRAYER THAT WAS REDICULOUS WHITE WILL BE RIGHT BLACK IS BACK COME ON NOW WHEN THEY ANNOUNCED BUSH AS PRES DID THEY SAY HERE IS OUR CAUCASION PRESIDENT NO DIDNT THINK SO.

January 20, 2009 at 1:26 pm
(58) Robert says:

Dude…he did NOT mean anything related to a racial que for obama he was addressing all races that we will realize that our hatred of each other is pointless and truely we need to move forward and prosper.

(59) Rossana says:

I was going to comment on all the haters, but “my momma taught me better than that”
Beauty. Brains. Talent. Grace. Tenacity.
All these word describe the talented powerhouse we know as Beyonce Knowles. Beyonce has taken the entertainment world by storm and despite her successes, she sometimes come under scrutiny by her peers. As a huge fan of Beyonce’s, I cannot see how anyone can criticize this young lady.

Beyonce just has something extra. She is determined to be a star and she strives hard to be the best she can be. You cannot become a huge success overnight and without working for it. Some people are not willing to put in the hard work and effort it takes to be successful. You get out of something what you put into it. While it sometimes seems that “its all about Beyonce” she never fails to mention or include her friends. This is what I love about her. She is not only beautiful on the outside, but she is on the inside as well.

Green Eye Monsters or now a days we call them “HATERS” READ AND WEEP.

(62) Lorraine says:

I can’t even believe the there are questions about the entertainment. It is his party and I think who ever he wants to entertain he and the First Lady is great. I am an older American and I don’t find Beyonce’s songs or the way she dresses offensive. I guess when you get older you realize what truly makes a person is what is inside of them and not what they wear. The President and First Lady deserve to have a great time tonight and I hope they do.

January 20, 2009 at 6:50 pm
(63) Robert says:

thanks Lorraine, true adults dont worry about who is singing at a party they consider what other people like and dont ask questions.

and besides how stupid are you if you are offended by a choice of a singer.

and its spelled “Barack” learn to spell before you try to place a false name.

Listen folks, I could care less about the entertainment. They are all shallow idiots whose opionions mean very little to me. I am more opposed to the racists speach made by Lowery. Here is a newly inagurated President, and we have a racist giving a speach that was stupid. I was very offended by this speach and was not a good way to bring America under one nation. It was a speach of division. I am tired of those who say that a black person could never say somthing racist. It was racist and I am sure that there are those out there who will call me the racist but that will show their own ignorance.

Oh so now we are criticizing the presidents taste in music. Ok thats not crazy at all?! Just because you dont like his “genre” selection does not mean it was a bad choice. He can choose whatever type of music he wants. he’s the damn president for crying out loud. but it’s just the ignorant people that believe these things being said. & its ok to be ignorant because no one has taught you anything else but to be the way you are. i listen to every genre there is. you name it i’ve heard it.
