Oh, the nights are cold and the music lush. Listen up and warm up with this month's Chicago music highlights.
- The Local Anesthetic's Holiday Spectacular, brought to you by WXRT 93.1's Richard Milne, will air on Sunday night, December 16 from 9p.m. to 10p.m. It will be re-broadcast on Sunday, December 23 at 9 p.m. "Local Anesthetic" is one of my favorite shows on the radio dial. Milne has a deep respect and discerning ear for Chicago's area musicians and plays their songs accordingly.
This is his annual holiday show where local bands send in their own versions of holiday music. Good listening while you're roasting chestnuts, sticking jelly beans on gingerbread men, or eggnogging the night away.
- Chicago's Ebony/Jet introduced a weekly podcast of conversations about Black Music. It's called The Turntable.
- Innerview's December issue of Chicago concert previews, including Spoon's New Year's Eve show at Metro, is now online here.
- You can download previous performances by the Chicago Chamber Musicians for free here.
